Alternative Energy Benfits Oil Companies

Offshore oil and gas production platforms are surrounded by a huge power source, the energy of the ocean itself. Oil and gas complexes can use ocean energy for their main power source:

    1. allows oil to be produced long after the reservoir pressure has dropped to an otherwise uneconomic level by using the ocean alternative energy to power down hole pumps increasing flowing surface pressure, recoverable reserves, revenue and rate of return

2. allows gas to be sold that would otherwise be burned for fuel and significantly increasing revenue

    3. helps maintain higher reservoir pressure and higher production rates longer

    4. helps meet government conservation / emission requirements

    5.  reduces diesel consumption for fuel saving significant operating cost

Offshore alternative energy offers a new source of revenue to oil and gas producers. Typically a platform is powered using the natural gas that is produced from the reservoir. Using this gas for fuel, burns revenue. As gas becomes more and more valuable, an operator that burns his gas for fuel is burning more and more of his potential revenue making the whole operation less economical. As a reservoir's gas is depleted, so is the gas needed to generate power to run the platform including processes for enhanced oil recovery, such as water injection and electric down-hole lift pumps, leading to operating costs exceeding revenue and eventual platform abandonment, leaving a large percentage of the oil reserves in the ground.

One goal of Offshore Islands Limited to help provide significant ocean energy power to offshore oil and gas production platforms to lower operating lost, to generate additional revenue, to allow enhanced oil recovery long after natural reservoir pressure recovery is no longer sufficient to allow the oil to flow to the surface on its own. As oil and gas fields are no longer deemed economic, beyond primary oil and gas recovery, the fields and their oil platforms are abandoned, leaving significant hydrocarbons or reserves still in the ground. It is possible that as much as 90% of the oil may be left in the ground after primary oil recovery. Offshore Islands Limited wants to helps operators recovery these reserves before they are forced to abandon their offshore platforms and wells and end the possibility of ever recovering these reserves economically.

When an oil company finds the field is no longer economic to operate, the governments require that the wells, their supporting offshore platforms and their pipelines be removed to 15 feet below the mud line. Once this multi-million "infra-structure" has been removed, and 90% of the oil reserves are left in the ground, these energy reserves are lost for the foreseeable future. To reinstate their recovery becomes increasingly expensive operation for future generations.

Using renewable ocean energy provides the opportunity to maximize our worldwide offshore reserves. Offshore Islands Limited has significant patents that need to be developed further that will provide significant ocean energy power to offshore oil and gas industry. If you wish to participate in these developments, please feel free to contact Offshore Islands Limited.

There will continue to be an increasing need for more cost-effective and improved ocean energy power generation devices. Offshore Islands Limited will continue to look for and support the development of these devices, and their infrastructure; and will be pleased to discuss and involve other interested parties in these developments at every stage.
