This new mooring system consists of one or more tendons hanging from a buoyant hull & supporting a counterweight just above the
seabed.
The ‘vessel’ offset causes a restoring force on the mooring system provided by the horizontal component vector of force in the tendon.
The counter-weight’s suction forces on the seabed piles also further increase tendon tension restoring forces.
One or more seabed piles prevent the counterweight from moving horizontally.
The vertical movement of the counterweight, as well as that of the buoyant hull above, is dampened by the suction they apply on the
seabed piles.
